Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment continue to see great interest surrounding Helldivers 2, which since its launch on February 8 has continued to see an increase in popularity, both in the PlayStation 5 version and in the PC version, via Steam.
Johan Pilestedet, the game's creative director, announced that the number of simultaneous players who can play in Helldivers 2 had risen to 700,000, but hours later a new number was announced, which is 800,000 simultaneous players. As expected, a new record for activity was reached this weekend.
On Steam, nearly 459,000 players were registered for Helldivers 2 on Saturday, a number that came close on Sunday when just over 458,000 players were registered. Helldivers 2 remained very popular this weekend and players showed that they still care about fighting the bugs.
Despite the curiosity surrounding Helldivers 2, SIE is remaining tight-lipped about the game and has not released any official numbers on its performance. Pilestedet commented in the first few days that it had sold over a million units and that after exceeding expectations, one would expect a statement from the publisher.
Recently, Helldivers 2's creative director suggested selling over 3 million units, but he didn't communicate that concretely and we have no way of knowing if he actually confirms that number.
