The Government of Goiás has, since 2019, allocated R$2 billion to the 246 municipalities of Goiás in their counterparts for health programs and services and will invest another R$436 million in the Oncology Reference Complex of the State of Goiás (Cura). The figures were presented last Sunday night (07/16) by Governor Ronaldo Cayado to the participants of the 37th Congress of the National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats (CONACEMS), which will be held in Goiânia until next Wednesday (19/7)).

The unit will be the largest public cancer treatment center in the state and one of the largest in the country. He said, “It is the apple of my eye.” The parliamentarian noted that the establishment of the State Hospital for Children and Adolescents (Hecad) made it possible to provide services of “international standards”.

The 37th Congress of the National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats (CONACEMS) is the largest public health event in South America, with the theme “The Missing SUS in Brazil”. This event will be held in the capital of Goiás until next July 19, in the Convention Center. The program includes exhibitions, exhibitions, and panels, with directors from across the country in attendance.

Country counterparts are part of a record R$17 billion in resources allocated to health in the past four and a half years. Investment by the Goiás government has resulted in a jump from 16 to 30 in the number of public units in the state, with six polyclinics and seven new hospitals. In addition, the number of beds increased from 1,600 to 3,500. An inherited debt of R$113 million was also settled.
