The Ministry of Health published today, Tuesday (19) a Technical note With guidelines for immunizing children aged 3 to 5 years against covid-19. According to the document, vaccination should be done by priority groups, according to the Coronavac vaccine stock available in states and the federal district.
The volume’s recommendation is that vaccination should begin with children ages 3 to 5 who are immunocompromised – with their natural defense systems compromised. Next, the immunization device should be directed to children aged 4 years, followed by children aged 3 years. The interval between the first and second doses of Coronavac should be 28 days.
The ministry also recommended that the Pfizer vaccine, which has already been approved for the age group from 5 to 11 years, should be applied to the public from the age of 5 years.
Transfer
This Tuesday (19), the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Daniel Pereira, said in an interview with Sao Paulo papersathat states have 1.2 million doses of Coronavac in stock and that capital may be unavailable.
“The first step was to survey the potions that we had in each state, to see exactly where they have the largest supply and where the orders are. Now, we are going to start this conversation to identify the largest demand in each region to see if there will be this transfer or not,” He said.
“Maybe the problem is in some capitals. So, [talvez] Transfer can take place within the municipalities. “We are seeing these logistics,” Pereira said.
Purchase is still pending
In the technical note, the ministry stated that it is in talks with Instituto Butantan, the manufacturer of Coronavac in Brazil, and with the Covax consortium, to obtain new doses. The bindingPereira explained that the ministry is working to get the doses to these residents within 30 days.
Coronavac was approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) for the vaccination of children aged 3 to 5 years last Thursday (14).
Multiple vaccination campaign
The ministry’s memo also notes that in August the National Campaign for Multiple Immunization, a strategy to improve coverage of vaccines included in the national vaccination calendar, will be held. The volume recommends that concomitant covid-19 vaccines be given with other vaccines in the vaccine calendar.
