The City of Joao Pessoa, through the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS), for the third weekend in a row, is carrying out another phase of summer action for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STIs). Preventive activities take place on Friday (27), Saturday (28) and Sunday (29), in Largo de Tambaú, on the edge of the capital.
Joao Pessoa’s health surveillance teams will be on site, between 3pm and 9pm, taking methods, receiving directions to the public, and offering rapid testing for HIV, syphilis and viral hepatitis; Vaccination against Hepatitis B, C and Tetravirus (measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox) as well as distribution of male and female condoms.
Preparation – In the first weekend of the summer event, which took place on January 13, 14 and 15 in Largo de Tampao, 163 people were helped and 652 rapid tests were carried out to detect HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C. With regard to immunization, 153 doses of vaccine against COVID-19, two against influenza and 12 other vaccines against viral hepatitis were applied, for a total of 167 doses.
In the second weekend, which included January 20-22, SMS-JP teams assisted 198 people with 792 rapid tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C. Over three days, 864 were distributed. condom With regard to vaccination numbers, the summer measure 122 people were immunized against Covid-19, seven doses of diphtheria and tetanus, and 10 other vaccines against viral hepatitis, with a total of 139 doses.
