Clarks’ managing director for the United Kingdom and EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa) has left the company specializing in footwear manufacturing and sales. Joe Ulloa has been in the role since early 2021, but joined the company in 2017 as director of retail sales. Copyright He then took on his most recent role, for the UK and Europe, before becoming managing director for the UK and Ireland.
Prior to joining Clarks, Joe Ulloa worked at automotive products and services retailer Halfords, but also served as Chief Operating Officer of Snow + Rock, General Manager of L’Occitane and Regional Director of Gap.
Clarks is currently looking for a replacement, with CEO Jonathan Ramm currently serving as interim head of UK and Irish operations.
A spokesman for Clarks confirmed his resignation, without saying why.
Clarks has undergone a lot of changes recently with the arrival of new majority owners.
Its latest results, released in November, reflect a period of “recovery and transition” during which the company rebuilt itself under the leadership of its new owners and allowed it to return to profitability after losses the previous year.
This year, the company has launched some exciting product and marketing initiatives, such as Clarks Originals collaborating with Salehe Bembury and Looker, as well as collaborations with Zara and Slam Jam. Clarks appointed Chet Free Richardson as creative director of originals and launched a celebrity advertising campaign to support the launch of Tarhill Boots.
