City Hall implements programs related to the National HIV/AIDS Prevention Campaign throughout the month in various locations
On Friday (first), Guaruja City Hall begins the program marking Red December, a month to raise awareness and fight against HIV/AIDS. Activities will start at 10 a.m., at Praça 14 Bis, in Vicente Carvalho, where the mobile testing and counseling center (CTA) will be closed until 4 p.m. Rapid testing for HIV and syphilis will be conducted on site, in addition to distributing female and male condoms.
The aim is to alert the population about early diagnosis and treatment of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. With access to testing, more people will know their serostatus, which is a prerequisite for preventing the spread of infection. Rapid diagnosis and initiation of treatment greatly increases the quality of life and life expectancy of the affected person.
The state’s “Fique Sabendo” campaign is part of the programs and targets audiences who have never taken the exam before, especially young people. In the city, it is implemented by the Municipal Health Department (Sesau), coordinated by the CTA, in the Willian Rocha Complex Unit, in Jardim Boa Esperança.
The CTA Móvel will pass through several neighborhoods until December 14. The specified schedule will be implemented in 21 health centers in the city hall. The external work is supported by the Family Health Units (Usafas) Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz dos Navegantes, Perique, Ciudad Atlantica and Villa Ra, which will work on an itinerant basis at strategic points in the neighbourhoods.
During the initiative, information folders and condoms will be distributed. In addition, the teams will provide all necessary guidance and assistance to interested parties.
