wWith this new system, the North American company intends to make it easier for users to access services such as Gmail or YouTube in their personal accounts, and also with greater security, although the traditional system of “passwords” will still, for the time being, work.
To access the new method, the user will have to authenticate on the mobile phone or other trusted device from which they usually access the services.
To do this, simply log into your personal Google account, visit the g.co/passkeys page, and then click on the “Use access keys” option.
If the access keys are configured correctly, Google login will only ask for an email address, after which the user will receive a message on the device asking for a fingerprint, your face or a PIN.
According to the company, this system can be used on iPhones, Android devices, Macs, and Windows computers. It is also possible to share the Passkey with multiple devices belonging to the same user.
Google highlighted that the new system is more secure and more reliable, as passwords are easily stolen by “hackers” or compromised in security breaches, as well as often forgotten by users, who tend to choose “passwords” that are easier to remember. Fingerprints or facial recognition are unique and difficult to replicate.
