gIggy Hadid spoke out on Tuesday night, October 10, about the attacks on Israel committed by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas. The model, 28 years old, of Palestinian origin, condemned the killing of innocent citizens, especially children.
“My thoughts are with everyone affected by this senseless tragedy, and every day that innocent lives are stolen by this conflict – there are too many children.
I feel deep sympathy and sadness because the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation is something that worries me. I also think it’s important for my Jewish friends to make this clear, as I have done before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestine, none of them involve harming the Jewish population.
Terrorizing innocent people is unacceptable and brings no benefit to the Free Palestine movement. This idea has fueled reprisals on both sides for decades (of which no citizen, Palestinian or Israeli, should be a victim) and helps perpetuate the false idea that being pro-Palestinian = anti-Semitic.
If you are suffering, as I send my condolences today to my loved ones, Palestinians and Jews alike, I send you my love and strength – no matter who you are or wherever you are. There are many valid, personal, and complex feelings, but every human being deserves basic rights, care, and security; Regardless of your nationality, religion, race or place of birth.
I know my words will never be enough to heal the deep wounds of so many, but I always pray for the safety of innocent lives.
