With the increase in the number of dengue cases, the Municipal Health Foundation (FMS) has announced that it will provide smoke cars that will operate in all areas of Teresina.
According to the FMS, the car should be driven early in the morning and in the late afternoon, sometimes it is more conducive to the presence of the disease-causing mosquito, Aedes aegypti. In this way, when the smoky car passes on the street, residents must open the doors and windows so that the insecticide can spread inside the dwellings.
Also according to the Municipal Corporation, the beneficiary areas of the city in the next 10 days will be: Southern District – Bella Vista, L’Oréal Parente, Santo Antonio; Eastern Region – São João, São Cristóvão and Morada do Sul; Northern Region – Alto Alegre, Nova Brasilia and Nova Teresina; Southeast region – Dirceu II and Poty Park.
According to the Department of Health (MS), smoking car is only recommended in places where there is a high incidence of Aedes aegypti virus and reported cases of dengue, Zika and Chikungunya. The Municipal Health Surveillance Directorate also reported that the capital as of Friday (01) had more than 1,200 clinically confirmed dengue cases through screening samples sent to the Central Public Health Laboratory of Piauí (LACEN-PI).
Amaryllis Borba, director of health monitoring at FMS, recommends to residents that if dengue is suspected, it is essential that a person immediately seek medical attention and always be hydrated.
“Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate. And you have to pee as transparent as the water you drink. So if you have body aches, abdominal pain, and if you lie down and get up, the world goes around, please find a health service. We have found many cases dangerous,” warns Amariles.
