Teslas’ most powerful ever, the S and X Plaid, with 1,020 horsepower, arrives in Portugal at the end of the year, with first units delivered in November and December. It is the most significant update the brand has made to its top models since its launch in 2012 and 2015 respectively.
It’s the most anticipated Teslas ever, with 1,020 hp and 1,450 Nm (rated value) of torque, making the S accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds and the X in 2.6 seconds. The maximum speed is 322 and 262 km / h, respectively, and its range is between 600 and 529 km.
Both have three high-performance engines, with carbon-coated rotors and torque vectoring, all-wheel drive, and top speed requires a cost-effective hardware upgrade. “Until this upgrade, the top speed will be 282 km/h. Note that the vehicle’s top speed may not be available for the duration of your ride,” says the brand.
Inside, the steering wheel, called the Yoke, which has no upper rim, stands out, much like an airplane joystick. Its use has been the subject of some criticism, but Lexus is also using it in its new electric SUV (the RZ 450E).
three screens
The Plaid has a left- or right-adjustable 17-inch touchscreen display, with a resolution of 2,200 x 1,300, with true-to-color color that, as the brand says, has “good responsiveness for games and movies.”
The second screen, in front of the driver, displays essential information including the full autonomous driving view, while the third screen, in the middle of the second row, provides entertainment and control for the rear passengers.
Tesla highlights, in a statement, “new interiors, engines, thermal systems, electronics, chassis, and more.” “Together with significantly improved manufacturing capability, reduced weight and a refined and iconic exterior design – both vehicles offer entirely new levels of luxury, technology and performance.” Refers to Tesla.
The OS costs 141,590 euros and the SUV 145,990 euros. Among the options available are the improved auto engine (3,800 euros) and the overall ability to drive itself (7,500 euros).
