Light at the end of the tunnel for McLaren? The Woking team continues to work on the update package, and while a few (few) have been implemented in Canada, there are still a few more on the way for the next races. Andrea Stella explained the team’s plan, which will showcase several new features.
The team director pointed to the next three races as stages of updates, which will give the team a practically new car:
“At the beginning of the season, we realized that the car needed a basic makeover, so this makeover is very interesting,” he told reporters. “It will be very noticeable. We had to redesign some parts under the bodywork. That’s why it took us a while to deliver these updates. So I would say the whole car.
” [As novas peças] Provides more aerodynamic support with similar characteristics. What matters is whether they communicate along the way. I think the communication so far has been good. This generation of cars generally interacts well with the development tools, so we expect a few tenths of a second improvement in lap time. In terms of upgrades here (Canada), we only have one rear wing, which is the most appropriate version for the level of resistance adopted at this track. Most of the updates will be done over the next few events, so there will be a big change to the car in Austria, UK and Hungary. For Canada, we definitely like the characteristics of the Barcelona because the car is strong in high-speed corners. We don’t have high-speed corners here, but there’s a lot of traction at low speeds, so it can be a bit difficult.
