The Municipal Minister of Health informs that as of Friday (5/5), all persons aged six months or older, including children, youth and adults, regardless of whether they have comorbidities or not, can now be vaccinated against influenza . in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Priority groups will continue to be vaccinated.
This Saturday (6/5) is scheduled as Day D for the flu vaccination. More than 500 immunization points will be available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, between primary care units (family clinics and municipal health centers) and outpatient centers in places such as neighborhood associations, churches, shopping centers, schools and plazas, among others, facilitating access to the target population. See the full list of points On site Municipal Secretary of Health.
The campaign started on April 10, will run until May 31 and aims to reach 90% of priority groups, which equates to about two million people in the city. Immunization against influenza is safe and necessary to prevent complications, hospitalizations and deaths from the most severe infections caused by the influenza virus in the most vulnerable groups. In 2023, the vaccine offered in the campaign protects against the three strains of influenza virus most prevalent in the Southern Hemisphere: H1N1, H3N2 Darwin’s and the B/Victoria strain. Anyone with an open dose of the covid-19 vaccine will be able to catch up on the vaccination schedule, as the two vaccines can be taken together.
Even people who had the flu shot last year should be vaccinated again. For those who have already had the vaccine in previous years, the vaccine schedule is a single dose. As for children in the age group who will take the vaccine for the first time this year, there are two doses, with an interval of 30 days between them.
In addition to D-Day, the flu vaccine is available from Monday to Saturday at 237 primary care units, and from Sunday to Sunday, at the Super Centro Carioca de Vacinação (SCCV), in Botafogo, another reference unit for vaccination between February and April this year. In the year alone, I have already applied about 20,000 doses (between routine vaccinations, against coronavirus and influenza). SCCV is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and also offers a drive-thru service for seniors and people with limited mobility.
For those who will be vaccinated, it is necessary to present an identity document and a vaccination booklet. It will also be necessary to provide evidence of classification as a priority group, such as a medical report, a job document for the occupational groups being served, among others. The list of comorbidities can be accessed at this link.
