Euro 2024. Poland – Netherlands

The Netherlands began winning the 2024 European Football Championship title, beating Poland 2-1, back, in the first round of Group D, which was held in the German city of Hamburg. The Netherlands came into the game well, dominated the game and were clearly the more dangerous team. The first signs of danger soon appeared when Jackpo dropped back to the left, pulled the ball back and tested the reflexes of Szczesny, who was alert and pushed for a corner kick. Newcomer Foot Weghorst broke the tie in the 83rd minute with a left-footed shot from the heart of the area near the base of the left post, which beat goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. In the 90th minute, Poland had a great opportunity to equalize the match. Jakub Piotrowski came close with a left-footed shot on a half-turn that Verbruggen blocked.
