British parliamentarian summoned the businessman Elon Muskthe currently richest person in the world, to testify about the recent purchase of Twitter, in negotiations involving $44 billion.
The invitation came from Julian KnightHe is also chair of the House of Commons Committee on Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). If Musk agrees to the proposal, he will talk to other parliamentarians about his intentions as the owner of the platform — such as verifying real users and other features.
Knight’s idea is to introduce new laws in the region related to digital platforms and to “restore public trust” in networks. Musk’s presence will be a way to help promote these projects and align government strategies with the company.
