Elon Musk and SpaceX want to start testing their spacecraft to show the world it’s ready. With everything taken care of so that the maiden voyage could take place, the company’s tough guy has now come out to reveal the expected date. Now Elon Musk has revealed that there is indeed a date for the first test flight of SpaceX’s Starship.
Everything points to the first Starship flight taking off later this week. Everything will depend on approval, which has limited the tests Elon Musk and SpaceX want to run and need to validate their machines.
Without certainty that this authorization would happen, Elon Musk was announcing that SpaceX's spacecraft would be ready for testing. This would not have affected anything, but it showed that the necessary preparation had been carried out and even completed.
The big change is coming now from the ad Elon Musk on the new date scheduled for these first tests. The SpaceX strongman revealed that this moment should happen soon, around the end of the third week of April.
It is important to remember that this moment cannot occur naturally. SpaceX still needs the FAA to issue the missing license. This will be permission to conduct tests by Elon Musk's company. Therefore, there is still no exact date for this moment.
For the initial test, the SpaceX Super Heavy rocket will have the mission of boosting the spacecraft. A few minutes into the flight, the Super Heavy will separate and land in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Starship will continue to accelerate with its upper stage engines until it reaches space. It remains unclear whether the spacecraft will actually enter Earth's orbit before landing vertically in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii.
