Research published in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found a relationship between meal times and work shifts.
The study found that eating during a night shift can increase anxiety by more than 16% and depression by 26%.
Sarah Shelapa, one of the study’s authors, revealed to Medical News Today that evening meals ultimately disrupt the body’s cycles. It affects not only mental health, but also general deterioration of health.
Previous research from 2021 has already shown that people who eat later meals end up having trouble sleeping.
