September 21 saw a series of firings in WWE, including Dolph Ziggler, Matt Riddle, Mustafa Ali, Dana Brooke, Shelton Benjamin, and many more.
In an interview with Good Karma Wrestling, Drew McIntyre gave his opinion on these firings and advice for the new ones. Free agents:
I hope you feel inspired. From what I understand, the company is literally telling people: “Do like Drew.”. We have to reinvent ourselves, grow our brand and become more valuable.
I think that’s literally the advice that the company gives to people and some of the stars that are getting fired come to me for advice.
I hope you will look at the example I provided. When I left, the idea was usually to take the WWE character and take it around the world.
My working mindset is that this was a terrible idea. There’s no way I’m going to do that, I’m going to reinvent myself, I’m going to show what I can really do.
I can take everyone around the world with me on my journey and I will reinvent what it means to be an independent fighter.
Fortunately, a lot of people believed in me, gave me a lot of opportunities, a lot of platforms to show what I could do, and I was very successful and everyone can follow that.
Do you agree with these statements by Drew McIntyre?
