The working group will reflect on eight directions of activity and will meet twice a month
Former footballer and coach Domingos Paciencia took up his position on Monday as technical director of the working group that will consider eight areas of activity in the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP).
The LPFP Technical Department’s mission is to focus on competitive models, game scheduling, game thinking as an optimizer for the project and post-2024 challenges.
The group will also focus on coaching Portuguese teams in Europe, strengthening the coaches’ forum, thinking about the organizational model for women’s football and discussing the laws and regulations of the game.
“President Pedro Proencia has identified this gap, and he has been very good at creating this artistic direction. This connection with the different participants in the scene, which is the game of football, is missing. This will be our mission: to discuss, analyze and improve, based on our experiences,” Domingos Paciencia said. And our knowledge,” considering that he is “proud to be the technical director of this committee,” through which he promises to “work to improve football.”
The group also includes former footballer José Carlos, who is part of the Professional Footballers’ Association (SJPF), Antônio Joaquim Oliveira, vice president of the National Association of Football Coaches, and Luis Bras, from the Ethical Council of the Portuguese Federation. The APAF must meet twice a month.
The association’s chief executive, Helena Pires, highlighted “many structural issues in professional football” that will be dealt with by technical management, handed over to “someone who understands what he is doing and is dedicated to the cause.”
The manager also considered that “collaboration and collaboration with this technical department will be fundamental”, confident that at the end of the season “a very positive assessment will be made of the work done”.
“It is worth noting that technical management meetings are scheduled to be held twice a month, to promote a consistent and dynamic approach in analyzing and implementing measures related to professional football,” the organization says.
