Ke Huy Quan conquered the audience when he took part in “Indiana Jones and the Lost Temple”, giving life to Short Round, in 1984, and cemented his status as an actor in “Goonies”, such as Data, the following year. After that, opportunities gradually diminished, and he spent more than two decades without being in a movie.
However, it was nearly 40 years, of a career full of many ups and downs, that last Sunday (March 12) he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, in Everywhere at the same time.
In his thanks, everyone who attended the ceremony left very emotional.
In his speech, Ke Huy Quan was incredulous: “Oh my God. Thank you. Thank you! My mom is 84 years old watching at home. Mom, I just won an Oscar! I started my boat trip. After a year in a refugee camp. Who Who knows how I ended up here on the biggest stage in Hollywood.”
“They say these things only happen in the movies. I can’t believe it’s happening to me. This is the American dream. Thank you so much.”
