The appointment of new doctors, after the departure or retirement of the previous ones, has allowed, since the beginning of the current year, the reopening of the health extensions of Aldeia das Das, Alfoco das Varzias and Avo, in the Hospital Municipality of Oliveira Dr. It has been closed for about a year.
The occasion was celebrated, symbolically, last Friday in Alfoco das Varzias, where the mayor, José Francisco Rolo, visited, at the invitation of the head of the local parish council, Katia Alves.
The reopening of the units is “the result of a joint and fruitful work by the Coordinator of the Personalized Health Care Unit (UCSP) at the Hospital de Oliveira do, Rui Pedro Lourero, and his team, including the City Council and the Chairs of the Parish Councils,” stressed the mayor.
These are the health extensions located in outlying parishes, with a noticeably aging population and where appointments are held on Monday and Wednesday in Aldeia das Dez (half-day), Friday morning in Alvoco das Várzeas and all days – except Thursday – in Aveo.
Return service results from the claim
The reopenings are the result of a “resolute and very demanding position” by the municipality with the Regional Administration of the Center (ARS) and the Clustering of Health Centers of Pinhal Interior Norte (ACES PIN), defended José Francisco Rouleau, “with a solution that protects primary and close population health care” .
On his trip to Alfuco das Varzias, José Francisco Rullo left a word of encouragement for the team, made up of a doctor, a nurse and an administrator, recalling the “great commitment and dedication” that the doctor, Fernando Moris, had, for many years, until retirement.
The local parish council stated that “a year and a few days after the closure of this extension, due to the retirement of Dr. Fernando Morais, an essential service for the parish has been opened again.
The solution was found after “back and forth”
A year of “a lot of dialogue, collaboration, progress and setbacks, but in the end, the solution reached satisfies all three parties – UCSP Oliveira do Hospital, JF Alvoco das Várzeas and CM Oliveira do Hospital”, highlighting the autonomy led by Katja Alves, She concluded that it was “a victory for a community that never gave up and always fought for what was rightfully theirs”.
At the same time, since last June, the Balcão SNS 24 has been operating at the parish council headquarters, where it is possible to request prescriptions, renew chronic medications, obtain treatment guides and schedule / conduct remote consultations.
The reopening took place after the space received improvement work, as it was in poor condition after closing in January 2022. In the case of the Saúde de Aldeia das Dez and Avô extensions, they have undergone significant improvements in their conditions, either at the end of the former municipal mandate or in the current one.
