Diablo 4 continues to break records for modern players as Blizzard prepares for a “surge” in player numbers over the weekend.
After a short early access stint, Diablo 4 launched in full on June 5th, and players have been flocking to Sanctuary ever since, so much so that the game sets a new record for player count. “every day”.
That’s according to Diablo franchise general manager Rod Ferguson, who took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the game’s massive popularity. “Thank you to all of our players!” He said. “Every day is a new record for a contemporary player for us and we can’t wait to see what happens. End of this week!“
Thanks to all of our players! Every day is a new sync record for us and we can’t wait to see what happens this weekend! #diablov https://t.co/ha5e1QEyfr

At the same time, Ferguson talked about the server issues that have caused Diablo 4 to shut down several times after the initial launch last week. But, far from being intimidated by the initial problems, players have continued to flock to the game in record numbers. This weekend marks the first time that Diablo 4 will be playable for everyone, regardless of which version they own, and Blizzard naturally expects to increase the number of players even more in the coming days.
“We really appreciate your patience as we continue to reach all-time highs in concurrent player numbers and prepare for the surge expected this weekend,” said Ferguson.
I apologize again for the hiatus but we should be fine to get back together. We really appreciate your patience as we continue to set record highs for sync and prepare for the expected surge this weekend. Thank you!
