This procedure was held last Wednesday (08/23) and was aimed at discussing disease conditions, symptoms, diagnosis, forms of treatment and prevention, and clinical cases of the disease.
The Department of Health of Suzano, through its tuberculosis outpatient clinic, organized last Wednesday (08/23) the second special meeting on tuberculosis for 40 civil servants working in 16 units located in the city center and in the Palmeiras region. The training was conducted in the Columbia Building, in Vila Costa, from 8 am to noon, with the aim of supporting teams in the clinical management of disease cases. This initiative was led by a doctor specializing in tuberculosis pathology, Paulo Henrique Braga Pizzaria.
Professionals from the Family Health Units (USF) were present: Antonio Marquez de Carvalho (Jardim Maite), Onicia Benedetta Miguel (Jardim Susannapolis), Council member Marcel López Rosa (Vila Amorim), María José Lima Souza (Jardim Ikeda), Council member Gregorio Bonifacio da Silva (Vila Fátima), Marcelino Maria Rodrigues (Jardim Brasil), Jardim do Lago, Recanto São José, UBSs, Antonio Augusto Nunes (Jardim Natal), Dr. Isaac Ogueme (Parque Maria Helena), Maria Lourdes Cardoso Matias (Jardim Vitória), Professor Joao Olympio Neto (Jardim Casa Branca), Mayor Alberto Nunes Martins – CSII (centre), Adelzoeta Ferreira dos Santos (Jardim Monte Cristo) and Palmeiras.
During the training, cases registered in the municipality were dealt with with the aim of investigating cases of infection, symptoms, diagnosis, and forms of treatment and prevention. The action aims to link scientific evidence with the experience gained by teams of professionals who have worked in the fight against tuberculosis. Each unit referred a doctor and a nurse to participate in the activity.
It was also emphasized that if a person has been suffering from a cough for three weeks, it is necessary to search for the health unit closest to the place of residence for evaluation and examinations. If the result is positive, treatment should begin as soon as possible. In addition, the action aimed to highlight the importance of prevention methods, such as vaccination of newborns still in the maternity ward, and evaluation of contacts, among others.

During the initiative, the attending employees were briefed on the period of the second phase of the campaign to intensify the effective search for cases of tuberculosis, which is scheduled to be implemented in the municipality from September 15 to 29. The procedure, which will take place in primary care units, will also be carried out in residents’ homes.
According to the municipal health minister, Pedro Ishi, the training has been very useful. “It is essential that specialists who deal directly with this disease are properly updated on this subject. We seek to provide an efficient and high-quality service to the population of Susana, which is why this type of preventive measure guarantees better conditions in dealing with the public.”
