According to The Guardian, Deloitte is the latest company to allow its 20,000 UK employees to choose how often to go to the office after an outbreak and to follow flexible employment rules.
Because long-distance work was successful during epidemics, their teams could determine “when, where, and how to work,” according to a source in the audit and consulting service company.
Although the company began a more flexible work approach in early 2014, the latest announcement marks a departure from the office-centric working regime.
“We allow our employees to choose the place where they want to do their best work, balancing with their professional and personal responsibilities,” commented Richard Houston, CEO of Deloitte.
“I’m not going to advertise specific days for people to be in the office or in certain places. This means that while focusing on how we can best serve our customers, our people can choose how often they come to the office, ”he continued.
The British government is expected to take a neutral stance on the issue once other restrictions are lifted in the UK on July 19.
