For WWE fans, Dave Bautista has always been a familiar face, but in the movie world, it wasn’t until he landed the role of Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies that his acting career took off.
Now that he’s given up on the role, Bautista feels relieved. In a long interview with GQ Magazinelooking back at his acting career, admits that he wants to do more dramatic things in the future.
“I’m grateful for the role of Drax, and I love him,” Bautista said. “But I’m relieved it’s over. It wasn’t all that nice. It was hard to play this part. The make-up process was exhausting.”
“I don’t know if I want it to be my heritage Drax – it’s a stupid role, I want to do more dramatic things,” he said.
Your wish comes true. Dave Bautista recently appeared in Netflix’s Glass Onion alongside heavy-caliber actors such as Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, and Kate Hudson.
In the same interview, he revealed how he got the role of Drax, after months of auditions with increasingly important people. I found this out with a phone call on my way to the gym.
“I had to stop the car because I was crying so hard. I turned and walked into the house shaking to tell my wife I got the part, and we were just standing there like idiots.”
