WCristiano Ronaldo shined (and in any way…) in Al-Nasr’s victory, on Tuesday, over Abha Club (0-8), with three goals in the first half, two of which were direct free kicks. This record was worthy of surpassing Diego Armando Maradona’s mark and getting close to that. Lionel Messi (and beyond).
According to the newspaper WelcomeCR7 reached 62 goals from direct free kicks, lagging behind the late Argentine player from the beginning with 61 accurate shots in that case. The Portuguese international thus ranks sixth on the list globally, and his closest competitor now is Lionel Messi with 65, the same as David Beckham – and, interestingly, the owner of Inter Miami, where the Argentine footballer is based.
Remember that the podium is made up of Juninho Pernambucano (77), Pele (70) and Ronaldinho (66), highlighting the fact that they are all… Brazilians.
It is also worth noting that this season, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 42 goals in 41 matches, after being the world's top scorer in 2023, with a total of 54 goals.
