According to the data of the Brazilian Ministry of Health, the number of deaths due to Covid-19 reaches 373,335 cases, with 13943,071 cases of the disease recorded since February 26, 2020, when the first case was recorded in the country.
Although the number of deaths today fell for the first time in seven days to less than 2,000, the Ministry of Health itself made it clear that the daily balance sheet for the development of the pandemic at the weekend does not reflect the reality, as there are delays these days in notifying the data.
Today’s bulletin on epidemiological developments issued by the health authorities also indicates that a total of 1178137 patients are under surveillance, which confirms, according to the EFE agency, that the epidemic is not under control in the country.
The situation in Brazil has worsened in recent weeks, mainly due to the circulation of new, more aggressive types of Corona virus across the national territory, which has brought hospitals to the brink of collapse and a shortage of medicines to treat patients undergoing ventilation.
Against this background, experts expect that in the coming weeks Brazil will exceed 400 thousand deaths since the beginning of the epidemic, to double, in the first five months of this year, nearly 200 thousand deaths recorded in 2020.
