This initiative is implemented within the scope of the implementation of the Municipal Health Plan, by the Health and Education Departments of the Municipality of Coimbra, which is included in Action 5.1 “Creation of Curriculum Enrichment Activity (AEC) in Health Literacy” and in Axis 5 “Education and Literacy for Health “From the Municipal Health Plan, Coimbra[PRO]Sucesso is the team responsible for the implementation of this programme, composed of professionals from different fields, namely psychology, speech therapy and social education which intervenes with school groups and non-group schools in Coimbra, within the scope of the project “Integrated and Integrated Innovative Plans to Combat School Failure” (PIICIE). II, promoted by the Education Department of the Coimbra City Council.
The program aims to enhance children’s cognitive and social health skills, in addition to stimulating the ability to access, understand and use information in order to promote and maintain good health. It is an innovative program and the first known in Portugal, targeting children between 8 and 10 years old. It is expected that once the impact of this initiative is assessed, it will be gradually expanded to include the entire municipality.
