Rondonópolis City Hall, through its Zoonoses Control Unit (UVZ), is promoting action in the city’s rubber stores to prevent the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito that transmits dengue.
Throughout the week, rubber workers are advised of the importance of not leaving tires outside the shop, where rainwater can accumulate and become a breeding ground for mosquito larvae. To avoid this situation, tire shop owners are instructed to either store the tires in an enclosed shed where water does not accumulate or move them to appropriate disposal sites.
The health watch will carry out periodic inspections in the rubber shops to ensure that the tires are stored properly. If tires are found outside, tire shop owners can be notified and fined.
According to UVZ coordinator Wagner Santos, it is possible for residents to properly dispose of tires by taking them to the collection point in Laminadora Goiano, which is located in the industrial area of Vila Operária.
Rondonópolis City Hall and UVZ promote the importance of everyone’s participation in preventing dengue and other diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti and thus ensuring the health and well-being of the population.
