The Swedish reinforcements will undergo surgery on the ruptured Achilles tendon in the left foot
Swedish international Christopher Hedberg, one of the strongest signings for Benfica for the next season, injured the Achilles tendon in his left foot, during the match that took place on Saturday, in Spain, against Logroño.
The 31-year-old left winger, who plays as a winger and right winger, from Norwegian club Elverum, has already had a medical diagnosis, so he will soon be operated on, with a long recovery expected.
“Sport Lisbon and Benfica have learned that athlete Christopher Hedberg suffered a rupture of his left Achilles tendon during the match against Ciudad de Logroño. A long period of rehabilitation,” reads a note from Clube da Luz.
This is the second victim of the Eagles, after left-back Gabriel Cavalcanti was seriously injured (in the cruciate ligament), and the Portuguese international is expected to miss most of the season.
On Wednesday (19:00) Benfica will play in front of its fans, against the Danish team Kolding, in Pavelhau n 2 da Luz.
