China cyber attack on UK Ministry of Defence. Developments “Sky News”This affected the payment system for individual services.
Details of the cyber attack will be presented to UK MPs this Tuesday. However, the elected Conservative MP has already said that China is “probably looking for financially vulnerable people with the idea that they can coerce them in exchange for money”.
According to “Sky News”, investigations did not show that personal data was collected, accusing China of two to three attempts to hack British Ministry of Defense employees.
The release details that the attack on the payment system was not linked to the Defense Ministry’s main computer system and was removed after analysis. The UK has spent the last three days coming to grips with the scale of the attack after it was discovered.
The hacked system will not be connected to the British Ministry of Defence’s main IT systems, and an investigation into the incident will be launched and decommissioned.
Within two months, the United Kingdom blamed “Chinese state-aligned actors” for two cyber attacks on the UK, hacking the country’s electoral commission and MPs critical of China.
