The Elon Musk’s position The face of remote work at Tesla is well known. The CEO wants all of his employees to be in the office and work there at least 40 hours a week.
So, with this idea in mind, he ordered the return of all his manpower, which turned out to be a mistake. Reports indicate chaos at this time, revealing serious problems with Tesla’s facilities.
Elon Musk against remote work
With many companies slowly returning to face-to-face work or implementing remote work policies, Tesla and Elon Musk decided to take a different path. The idea is for all employees to be present and occupy the offices.
His idea is so firm that all employees who do not return are immediately fired. Thus these will pile up with those that will be dispensed with in reducing the entrepreneurial power that occurs at Tesla.
Mess when back to work at Tesla
Interestingly, several sources reported that this return was marred by chaos in the Fremont offices. In the company premises there were not enough places for all the employees and the Wi-Fi complaints were many, which prevented the employees from carrying out their tasks.
This happened because the company has hired more people and modified its office space during the pandemic. The result was a shortage of tables and other resources when they all appeared at Elon Musk's request.
Big increase in staff
Tesla will double its workforce between 2019 and 2021, to 99,210 employees. Fremont is home to the company's largest factory, with more than 20,000 workers, and many other employees working nearby in the company's offices. The parking lot was full and extended to the nearest public transport station.
Elon Musk will reduce its workforce by about 10% over the next three months, the Tesla founder recently revealed. This change would represent a decrease of about 3.5% in the company's total headcount.
