The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners animation has been such a hit that it has motivated CD Projekt RED to invest in more projects that port their worlds into other entertainment.
The Netflix series has become a worldwide rage and helped the game break new activity records, nearly two years after its original release. It also helped sell more Cyberpunk 2077 units and influences CD Projekt’s approach to its projects.
Micha & Lstrok. CD Projekt RED’s Nowakowski was asked by investors if Edgerunners would get a second season, something that received a negative response but was fleshed out with an intriguing commentary.
“We have an appetite for doing more in the transmedia space, so in visual linear animation or live action, those plans haven’t changed, so we’ll do more advertising when we’re ready.”
Cyberpunk 2077 helped CD Projekt RED’s finances post a very successful quarter, and the company points out that Edgerunners bears a lot of responsibility for that, along with the latest update.
Produced by Studio Trigger, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a hugely successful anime and although there are no plans for more seasons, CD Projekt RED Japan said it would love to create more anime.
