On Tuesday (7) Governor Renato Casagrande (PSB) announced the payment of compensation to health workers that can reach R$3,000. The reward will go to professionals from the state’s network who have worked in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The value of each server, dubbed “Covid Aid”, will depend on when services are provided to the state between April 2020 and September 2021. The extraordinary award will cover permanent, commissioned, accepted under temporary contracts or CLT contracts who, cumulatively, had a relationship with the Department of Health (Sesa) between April 2020 to September 2021, and who were in service for at least 180 days during that period.

Pandemic law allows health benefits
The governor indicated that although Federal Law 173/2020 remains in force, health workers may be awarded the bonus because they are among the exceptions to the legislation. The law prohibits granting benefits and adjustments to civil servants nationwide, in exchange for the financial assistance the federal government has provided to states and municipalities to combat the pandemic.
In order to pay, the proposal needs the approval of the legislature, but Casagrande emphasized that he believed in the sensitivity of parliamentarians to accept the government’s initiative. With consent, the assistance may be granted later this month.
