The result of the 2024 São Paulo Carnival has placed two samba schools linked to organized supporters of the São Paulo Football Club on opposing sides. While Dragões da Real was in second place, Independente Tricolor finished last and fell into the Access 1 group.
a Dragões had the same maximum score as champion Mocidade Alegre270 points, but came in second place due to tie-break criteria.
The performance was better than that recorded in 2023, when Draguis came in fifth place.
Independente Tricolor, which placed seventh in 2023, had the worst performance among the 14 schools that competed in the show in 2024, with a score of 268.7. In 2025, the school will compete for Access 1.
Dragões and Independente were created in the 2000s and have never won the Special Group title.
Gavis and Mancha are tied in the score, but Corinthians is ahead
Two other schools linked to organized football fans have attempted to win the Special Group title in 2024: Corinthians Javies da Viel and Palmeiras Mancha Verde.
They were both tied at 269.6 points, but given the tiebreaker criteria, Javeis came in fourth and Mancha in fifth.
In 2023, Mancha won runner-up and Javies finished ninth.
Gavis da Viel, the first samba school in São Paulo to be associated with organized fans, began performing in Anhembi in 1989 and won four titles: 1995, 1999 (with Fi-Fi), 2002 and 2003.
Mancha Verde was born in 1995 and has two titles: 2019 and 2022.
In addition to the four schools that participated in the special group, this year's Access I group also includes the school Torcida Jovem, who has ties to the Santos Futebol Clube organization of the same name. The school will be downgraded to Access II in 2025.
