It is suspected that British Home Secretary Soella Braverman tried to obtain preferential treatment after speeding.
The case has already prompted the opposition to call for an investigation into Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who said, when asked about the issue during the G7 summit, which concluded Sunday in Japan, that he “does not know all the details about what happened”.
He claimed that the minister was fined for speeding and asked the counselors to organize a special course on traffic rules to avoid taking this course with a group of motorists, so as not to lose points on the driving licence.
“I understand that she regretted the speeding, accepted the punishment and paid the fine,” the PA news agency quoted her spokesperson as saying, emphasizing that the minister had “clear” confidence in the prime minister.
The appointment of the interior minister had already been criticized, following her dismissal from the previous government for improperly sending an official document from a personal email address.
