Owners of sheep are asking for the return of the animal, which was taken by thieves after the farm where it lived was raided.
Affectionately dubbed ‘Britain’s Ugliest’ on social media, the sheep stands out with its one eye and disfigured face.
The 60-year-old owner, Michelle Bouton, shared pictures of the animal until then, which, despite its unusual appearance, won the sympathy of many on the Internet, especially for its friendly and loving behavior with its owners, the English newspaper Daily Star reported.
According to the woman, the nine-month-old sheep was born with goat-looking features. “She was one of four lambs born but the only one with a disfigured face. I immediately loved and pet her.”
“Scuzzy never wants to be with other goats and follows me around the farm. She’s too small and can’t eat everything because her mouth is crooked, but she’s very happy.”
However, on January 6, the day thieves broke into the property, Scuzzi disappeared. Michelle believes they got the animal because of its unique features.
The owner called the police to report the theft and requested a search operation for the animal. So far, investigators have found no sign of the animal or any leads on the robbery suspects. Michelle reported the situation on social media, prompting calls from people to rescue the animal.
“I’m devastated that she’s gone, I think maybe someone took pity on her and took her in not knowing she was a pet.”
But the woman also believes the sheep’s popularity on social media may have attracted the attention of ill-intentioned people.
“It’s either that or someone stole her because of her looks and thought Skuzzy would make a fun pet. She might be known as Britain’s ugliest sheep, but we want her back.”
Scuzzy enlists the help of people on the Internet to find clues. The animal charity has also announced that a reward will be given for information about the whereabouts of the sheep.
The old woman added: “If Scuzzi had run off or fallen into a ditch, someone would have seen her and let me know. But there’s no evidence of that.”
“In desperation, I contacted the police and the sergeant told me that he had not investigated a case like this in 22 years. We don’t care who took Scoosie and why, we just want her home,” she lamented.
