The number of confirmed cases monkeypox (or monkeypox)
In Brazil, it is the third in terms of the number of infections in the world. The country also recorded two deaths: one in Minas Gerais and the other in Rio de Janeiro. The data is contained in the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health, issued on Wednesday evening.
With 3,001 patients, the city of São Paulo leads in the number of infections: it’s as if three out of five diagnoses occur in the state. If it were a country, it would be seventh in the international ranking, behind the United States, Spain, Brazil, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, according to monitoring by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Rio de Janeiro is another monkeypox epicenter in the country, with 675 cases. And Minas Gerais, in turn, injured 278 injured. The numbers make the Southeast region the concentration of the vast majority of records, 78.4% of the total.
Amapá, Rondônia and Sergipe have not yet reported cases in Brazil. In addition, there are 5,391 suspected cases across the country awaiting diagnosis.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the world has already passed 50,000 diagnoses – that’s 10% in the country – but the number of new diagnoses appears to be slowing.
The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) released the use of the tekovirimat antiviral vaccine against monkeypox last Friday. In turn, the ministry stated that it received the first 12 treatment units designated for clinical research and critically ill patients on the same date.
