Boeing has become the latest and last aerospace and defense company to join the H175M task force in response to the UK’s New Medium Helicopter (NMH) program requirements.
If the Airbus H175M is selected for the UK programme, Boeing Defense UK will act as a training services partner, providing crew, ground crew and maintenance training.
The company joins a UK-based team set up to supply, deliver and support the locally built H175M, which includes some of the most respected players in the international space.
Airbus Helicopters UK Managing Director Lenny Brown said, “Boeing Defense UK is respected in this country for its long-standing support of the British Chinook and Apache fleets. As a training service partner, it builds on a solid line-up of top UK-based aerospace partners who bring decades of assurance of world-class service delivery to the UK MoD.
“We are delighted to be collaborating with Airbus and joining their innovative team to meet UK NMH requirements. Our local staff have supported the British Armed Forces for decades, supporting hundreds of jobs across the country with helicopter training. As a member of the H175M task force, we will use our existing experience to ensure the availability and readiness of future UK helicopter fleets.” We look forward to building,” said Steve Purnell, director of Boeing Defense UK.
Launched during RIAT 2022, the H175M task force will include helicopter specialist Babcock, fulfilling a key role as a support partner for the H175M at UK and military bases.
Martin Baker, with over 70 years of aerospace experience, provides specialist seating for the troops and coordination services.
Based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and Prestwick, Scotland, Spirit Aerosystems, already an Airbus partner on the CityAirbus NextGen eVTOL aircraft, has begun extensive design and manufacturing activities for the H175M.
Additionally, Pratt & Whitney Canada has formally joined the team to supply and support PT6C-67 turboshaft engines.
