Nikola scored two goals in the Reds’ 4-2 win
Benfica returned to the winning ways in the tournament by defeating Murcia 4-2 in a very complicated match for the national champions. After the defeat (2-3) against Sporting in the last round, the Reds entered Luz stronger, and scored in the sixth minute from a solo play by Roberto Di Benedetto. The Murcius response was better. The team led by Caleta pulled one back shortly after through Gonzalo Nunes (the best on the pitch for the Cascais municipal team) and turned the score around through captain João Malo. While the Murcias were outnumbered, Carlos Nicola scored the first goal just before half-time.
In the second half, Benfica’s superiority and Murchis’ physical exhaustion became more evident. Lucas Ordonez and Nikola scored the winning goals again. After five rounds, the Reds have provisionally moved up to fourth place with ten points, two points below the leaders’ trio of SP Tomar, Olivirense and Sporting, teams that have played a game less.
