Under the contract, the bank will be a sponsor and will retain the title of sponsor of the competition until July 2022.
According to the British newspaper The Guardian, the contract is expected to generate more than £10 million, making the alliance the most profitable in women's sport in UK history.

Their record multi-million pound commitment will impact every level of the sport and support our ambition,” said Kelly Simmons, FA Director of Women’s Professional Games. “In making the Barclays Women’s Super League the most successful league in the world, on and off the field.”
For Nielsen, the sponsorship agreement represents a milestone for women's sport in the country, as £500,000 will be split between the teams, a distribution that will occur for the first time in the competition's history.

In British football, Barclays is a partner in the FA Cup, Premier League and Premier League Cup (Under-23s). The agreement also includes support for more than 100 women's soccer schools across the country.
