In a great hickey-roller game broadcast live on A BOLA TV, Sporting went to the Dragão Arena, home of the leader (now former leader) FC Porto to win, 6-4, the Match of Round 14, the first of the second round of the regular phase of the Campeonato Placard.
In a match always played at high speed, it was FC Porto who opened the scoring through Xavi Barroso. But in the same minute, Gonzalo Romero equalized in the fifth minute. In the 9th minute, Carlo Di Benedetto once again put the home side ahead, as the visitors equalized in the 22nd minute, again through Gonzalo Romero, now with a direct free kick. Before the break, Gonzalo Alves made it 3-2 in a insistent match.
On appeal, Sporting appeared better (in contrast to FC Porto, more indifferent) and reached the equalizer again through Gonzalo Romero. Before 4-3 from the Lions, Benedetto missed a free kick, and reached 5-3 again with Ferran Font’s stick, now at 43′ (and from a direct free kick) – he made it 4-3 at 32″.
In the 47th minute, Gonzalo Alves gave the Dragons some hope with a 4-5, but in the same minute Ferran Font made it 6-4, a result that would not change until the end (Gonzalo Alves even missed a direct free kick).
With this result, Sporting outperformed FC in the standings (35 vs. 34 points) and joined Benfica (36 points), opponents in the next round, a duel at 3 pm on Sunday 29, broadcast live on ‘THE BALL TV’.
