Los Angeles FC won the MLS Championship for the first time, succeeding 2021 champion New York City to the throne of American football.
Playing their home ground at Bank of California, Los Angeles FC defeated the Philadelphia Union on penalties 3-3 at the end of overtime, in a truly exciting final.
And in the 27th minute, Kelly Acosta gave the hosts the lead, as Philadelphia Union equalized in the second half, in the 59th minute, through Hungarian Daniel Gazdag. In the final 10 minutes, Jesús Murillo (83) appeared to have given LA his hand on the trophy, but the outsiders imposed extra time through Jack Elliott (85).
In overtime, goalkeeper Maxime Crepo, leaving the California team with 10 and opening the way to 2-3, composed by Elliot, was sent off at 120 + 4. But the best was saved for 120 + 8 (!), When the Welshman Gareth Bale appeared, The former Real Madrid player, to save Los Angeles FC and take a penalty shootout decision.
At the eleven-meter mark, Los Angeles was more accurate and won 3-0, becoming the champion for the first time in the club’s history.
