Patrice Evra explained that one of Manchester City’s problems is that Pep Guardiola does not want players with character, leaders on the field to be signed, and then when things go wrong it is very difficult to change the situation.
The former French winger also revealed another problem for the English club, recently knocked out by Real Madrid from the Champions League, which is the fact that they only have money and not history.
“Manchester City need leaders on the pitch, but Guardiola doesn’t want them. You don’t want personality. He’s the leader. The problem is that there’s no room to help them. You choose your teams like that and you don’t want to direct players with personality. He did it in Barcelona, but he built a team. He manages to control everyone. When things go wrong, he always decides,” the former France international said, speaking to Prime Video.
Patrice Evra considers City to have similar problems to Paris Saint-Germain: “City made a mistake and it’s true. They are shocked. It reminds me of PSG, because they are clubs that depend on money. Real Madrid have money too, but they have history. They only have money and the players go there. For that. They won trophies, it’s true, but the player chooses Manchester City only because he gives more money.”
