Musicians Sergio Godinho, Capicua, Faletti and Cristina Branco are some of the names that will appear at Festa do Avante! This year, which will also include several shows dedicated to the 50th anniversary on April 25.
The 48th edition of the Festa do Avante, the traditional event of the PCP that marks the party’s political “return”, will be held from September 6 to 8 at the Quinta da Atalaia, in Amora, Seixale.
The Communist Party of the Philippines said in a statement that this year’s edition will feature several “performances to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution in its many dimensions,” including a concert by Sergio Godinho, accompanied by the band Assessores and rapper Capicua.
In this same aspect of the 50th anniversary celebration on April 25, the show “Zeca Semper” will also take the stage, featuring musicians Olavo Belac (former lead singer of Santos and Picadores), Nuno Guerrero, Tozi Santos and Vitor Silva. They sing the songs of José Afonso and “other singer-songwriters who helped clarify the meaning of the revolution.”
“A tribute to Portuguese women and their liberation is presented by the show A Mulher é uma Arma”, directed by producer Renato Junior, with the participation of Ana Bacalhao, Katia Guerrero, Luanda Cosetti, Maria João, Rita Redshuis and Sofía. Escobar adds to the party.
As always, Festa do Avanti! She devotes part of her poster to Portuguese-speaking artists, focusing on Brazilian artist Pia Ferreira, “one of the most disruptive voices of recent years in Brazilian music,” who will take the stage with Dino de Santiago, Eva Rap Diva and Mazinha.
Portuguese pianist and composer Mario Lagenia will perform a duet with Cape Verdean musician Chica, on a stage that will also include Brazilian punk rock band Garutos Podres, and Guinean-Bissau musicians Nancy Vieira and Remna.
Among the national artists, Festa do Avante! It will once again feature the presence of The Legendary Tigerman and Bruno Pernadas, a renewed focus on Fado, with artists such as Cristina Branco or Hélder Moutinho and a tribute show to guitarist Carlos Paredes, with Luísa Amaro, Mafalda Lemos and Gonçalo Lopes.
Portuguese rap icon Valete will also participate in this year’s edition, along with DJ and producer Branco, as well as Ana Tejo, the French-Chilean hip-hop singer.
Among the debuts at Festa do Avante! are Ana Lua Cayano, who released her first album this year (“I’ll Stay in This Quarter”), and the Cara de Espilho project, whose vocalist is Mito Mendes (Nayfa). He joins the musicians Deolinda, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, Ornatos Violeta and Humans.
