The Portuguese company AstraZeneca has appointed Maria João Maia as its new Director of Human Resources.
He will succeed Renata Morgado Ekman, who will assume the position of Human Resources Director for the company's Western Europe and Southern Europe.
Maria João Maia is also the company's legal director, a role she will continue to hold. She has been working at AstraZeneca since 2017, after nearly a decade as an in-house lawyer, where she specialized in health and employment law, always working in collaboration and proximity with HR departments.
In 2022, the responsible person assumed, on an interim basis for eight months, the role of Human Resources Director at AstraZeneca Portugal, having been responsible for developing several initiatives, working to improve internal communication and implementing and developing several initiatives. Diversity and inclusion initiatives, an area he is responsible for in Portugal, Western Europe and Southern Europe.
She graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto, obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Labor Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and in Medical Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, and also obtained a Master's degree in Law from the University of Porto. He specialized in Data Privacy and studied Leading Pharma, both at Cattolica Business School.
