Google has been more careful about integrating artificial intelligence into its search engine, unlike Microsoft – which has focused heavily on this idea since the launch of Bing Chat.
However, this does not mean that the company is standing still. Apparently, the company is internally implementing some plans to integrate artificial intelligence into search engine searches, in what is known as the “Magi” project.
according to The New York TimesGoogle is improving search with AI integration, which should dramatically change the way users access content or find information on the web.
The Magi Project is believed to be part of this integration, and is focused on putting AI into search and ensuring greater content is tailored to each user, based on what they’re looking for.
The basic idea will be similar to what Microsoft has already implemented in Bing, with some AI-generated quick answers being put into the search. But in this case, the technology will use Google’s own artificial intelligence, with its own PaLM model.
The same source also states that Google’s artificial intelligence will be able to help programmers create code for various applications, using online resources and integrating knowledge with their model.
Of course the system can also be used for regular surveys, where users can post their questions to be quickly presented with straight answers to them, which can be followed up with additional information or more questions.
If all goes as expected, the outcome of Project Magi will likely be known in May, possibly around the same time as the Google IO 2023 event. The initial launch will focus on the US, but will eventually be open to more countries as well.
Remember, Bard, Google’s artificial intelligence technology, is currently available for public testing, but it’s limited to users in the US and with no plans to reach more countries at this time.
