The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered arrives on January 19, and is an enhanced version of the 2020 original that also includes some additional content, as well as using PS5 technology.
However, many players doubted the relevance of the remaster: besides the fact that we are talking about a modern game, it is a game that remains very beautiful on PS4. The fact that upgrading to the new version costs 10 euros also did not please PlayStation fans.
Interestingly, Naughty Dog doesn't understand the frustration with this remake, especially its director Matthew Gallant.
Hey VGC Gallant asked why he thinks video game remasters are sparking backlash in gaming communities, especially The Last of Us Remastered Part II. This is what he replied to:
“I don't understand some of the panic about what The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has to offer. It's the best way to play The Last of Us Part 2. If you're a new PlayStation owner and new to the series, we want to give you the best experience with all the hardware features of the original PS5 version “Of the game. My feeling is that there is an audience for whom the idea of a PS5 release is exciting. I also speak for myself, I'm excited that we can bring this to the fans, and if it's not for everyone, that's okay.”
Do you agree with what he said? Do you think this remaster is necessary?
