The Madeiran group based in South Africa has been shaken again by yet another kidnapping of a Portuguese immigrant residing in the city of Pretoria. Juka Leonardo, 55, from the mainland.
The businessman was traveling in his car when the kidnappers approached him and left traces of two gunshots in the car, according to a source close to the family, who confirmed that the crime called ‘breakthrough’ was committed in the town of Bronchtsbroit. The whereabouts of Juca Leonardo are not yet known.
To our newspaper, our source, a Madian immigrant, reports that the Portuguese community is experiencing increasing levels of anxiety and apprehension every day in light of the regularity of kidnappings that occur.
This is the second kidnapping to be committed within a month and it does not leave the large community that lives in that country at ease.
A little over a month ago, Diorio reported, two Portuguese immigrants, one from Madeira, were kidnapped on the outskirts of Johannesburg (the country’s economic capital), but were released after the family paid the ransom.
