Disney expected to put the “Trailer Trailer” online for the highly anticipated sequel to “Avatar,” which will hit theaters…in December 2009.
With Na’vi characters swimming in the oceans and tearing up the skies of the fictional planet Pandora, images of “Avatar: The Way of Water” (“Avatar: O Caminho da Água”, in Portugal) were released just once a week after the theatrical release exclusively with sessions “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.
After several delays, due to production delays and the pandemic, the premiere of “Avatar: The Path of Water” is scheduled for December 16.
“Wherever We Go, This Family Is Our Strength” is the film’s campaign slogan: According to the official synopsis, the sequel takes place a decade after the events of the first film and tells the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri and their children), their problems, the long distances they have to travel to stay safe, and the battles they fight. To survive, the tragedies they endure.
Directed by James Cameron, the main characters are Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCC Pounder, Eddie Falco, Jimmy Clement and Kate Winslet.
This will be the first of four sequels to the film, which grossed $2.8 billion at the global box office between 2009 and 2010.
Producer John Landau explained at CinemaCon last month that each sequel will have its own story sequel and its own ending, but that together they will form a “unified epic saga.”
