The agency reported today that South Korean actor Oh Young Soo, known for his participation in the TV series “Squid Game”, has been formally charged with sexually assaulting a woman. Yonhap News.
The Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office in southern Seoul formalized the charge against the artist on Thursday.
A woman denounced Yeong-su and claimed the actor touched her inappropriately in mid-2017.
The alleged victim reported the case in December last year to the police, who ended up closing it in April without a complaint being filed against the actor.
However, the Public Prosecution decided to reopen the process and investigate the representative, who denied the accusations during the process.
Yeong-su began his career in the 1960s, primarily in theatre, acting in hundreds of Korean and Western classical plays.
Later, the actor joined the National Theater Company of Korea before landing some movie or TV roles.
At the end of 2021, he is known worldwide for playing the character Oh Il-nam, a senior competitor in the terrifying competition focused Netflix series “Squid Game”.
This work earned him the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor on Television this year.
